Background of the Study
Business analytics involves the use of statistical, predictive, and operational techniques to analyze data and improve decision-making. For Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), business analytics provides opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, market competitiveness, and profitability.
In Gombe State, where SMEs contribute significantly to economic activities, the adoption of business analytics remains limited. Factors such as cost, lack of expertise, and resistance to technological change hinder widespread adoption. Studies like those by Bello and Yusuf (2023) underscore the transformative impact of business analytics on SME performance. This study explores the extent of business analytics adoption among SMEs in Gombe State and its implications for business performance.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the benefits of business analytics, SMEs in Gombe State face challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, lack of technical knowledge, and high implementation costs. These barriers prevent them from leveraging data-driven insights to improve decision-making and growth.
